Octane Render

I recently came across the software Octane by Refractive Software. Together with Jan Henrik Hansen I built a custom PC to best utilise the software and we spent a weekend playing with the software and testing on a couple of scenes.

We were impressed to say the least.

The following images are from those 2 days. No post production or image editing (except resizing). Original image sizes are 1600 x 1200 pixels or higher.

Taking the fullscreen principle to new heights was the brief for this website for Jan Henrik Hansen, who produces sculptures using an advanced process of translating sound into form.

Under the hood WordPress 3.0 is running the show, with lots of help from jQuery and a whole plethora of plugins and extensions.

The project brief for this bookworks project was to create a 40 page book using the front page of a newspaper as the source for images and text.

This uses the front page of issue number 1935 of the Socialist Worker. Every word and image is used somewhere in the book. The book is hand-made and the front cover and the pages with the swords are screen-printed

‘Nightgown’ – a chill-out lounge

At the end of the Foundation Course Art & Design, a major project had to be prepared. As a project I set myself the Concept for a chill-out lounge and therefore the area of interior design and 3D branding.

A major focus was put on the lighting design, as well as the design of some custom elements like the ‘light bubbles’. The visualization was done completely in Cinema 4D.

But the project also included the design of a coorporate identity, including a small website to present the project. This was accomplished using (the now sadly discontinued) Freehand MX, Photoshop, Fireworks and Dreamweaver.

Janire Najera Website

For Spanish photographer Janire Najera minimalism was the most important aspect for her website. The pictures really speak for themselves and need lots of white space to shine.
